About G

My name is Gared Luquet, and I am a 25 year old artist living and creating in the east bay area. I am an abstract mixed media process painter currently working out of the Hive Studios in Jack London Square, Oakland. I share the White/Luquet studio with my creative soulmate, Marlene White. Growing up, I  lived in the same house in Walnut Creek, California for 18 years until attending Pepperdine University. I graduated with a degree in Studio Art, receiving the Outstanding Student award in 2009. My college art Professors Avery Falkner, Joe Piasentin, and Genevieve K. Freeman, were instrumental to my growth as an artist. They are true artists who live lives filled with love and passion for art and teaching. Brett Klement and Deborah Miller, my high school art teachers, provided me with the support and guidance that is important for every young student and artist.

My most important teachers have been my parents and my sister Caitlin who have shown me how to be responsible through their examples. My dad is the hardest worker I know, a high schol Resource teacher by day and a baseball coach by night. He has taught me that if you love what you do life will be great and you can be happy. His hard work has provided me with many opportunities which I am so grateful for. My mom loves me the most in this world and that kind of support is one of a kind. She does Bikram Yoga five days a week, and anyone who has tried Bikram yoga knows how hard that is, truely commendable! My sister Caitlin gives me 100% unadulterated, raw, and honest oppinions of my artwork and it feels great to know I have another set of eyes I can trust.

I am who I am because of you all!

And so thankful!
